Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about a minute, until fragrant.

Add the rinsed beans along with the water to the skillet and cook them for a couple of minutes.

Add the lime juice, salt, ginger, and pepper to taste, stir.

Remove from the heat and use a potato masher or the back of a fork to mash it into a paste.

Serve with broccoli (for added protein) or any other vegetables you have on hand.
