Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Add flax seeds to a blender and blend into a flour-like consistency. Make a flax egg by taking the ground flax and mixing it with the water in a small bowl. Set aside to thicken for 15 minutes.

In a large bowl, mash the banana with the back of a fork until smooth. Stir in almond milk, almond butter, flax egg, maple syrup, vanilla, salt, chocolate chips, and walnuts (reserve some of the chocolate chips and walnuts to sprinkle on top before baking). Mix.

Add in oats and baking powder. Mix.

Lightly grease a small baking dish and pour the batter into the dish. Top with remaining chocolate chips and walnuts.

Bake for 35 minutes. Let cool and then slice into the number of squares listed in the recipe details. Serve.
